When to Use a Data Acquisition System
There are several situations where using a data acquisition system (DAQ) for your applications is preferable to using a PC-based system:
- When the conditions are too extreme for you to use a PC
- When you need multiple measurement modules to run synchronously
- When you need advanced measurement manipulation, on-board data processing, control functions, automated alarm systems, or other features
- When you need advanced communications such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or radios
- When you need to manage large data sets or schedule long-term data collection
Modular Design
The GRANITE DAQ is designed in a modular configuration to provide a completely customizable system. Several GRANITE modules can be configured together to get the optimal measurement types and number of channels.
Distributed System
Each GRANITE module can be physically located in the ideal location—spread out as needed, at the point of measurement, while being controlled and synchronized by a single GRANITE DAQ.
Independent Modules
Each of the individual GRANITE modules can be detached from the GRANITE DAQ and independently connected to a computer for real-time measurements. Using the Campbell Scientific SURVEYOR support software, this configuration allows component bench testing.
GRANITE Measurements
The GRANITE product line is built with over 40 years of Campbell Scientific industry leading knowledge and experience. It can be used as stand-alone measurement modules connected to a computer, distributed modules within a large network, or as compact chassis for high channel count and high speed measurement applications.
