Basic help on accessing page elements

CSLMM Aug 11, 2011 10:19 AM

Hi, I am struggling to get my head around the different 'bits' that make up a page and exactly where I find them to edit or add/remove them (must be my age or something!!)

For example, If I look at the Employment Opportunities page there is a pdf application form listed at the top and then various vacancies listed, each with a pdf job description. Then down the right there are various links listed.

However, If I click on 'Edit Page', or bring the page up via the 'Load CMS' and scroll down the fields available I cannot see any of these things referenced, nor see any of the text displayed except the header section.

Also, although using Chrome there are quite a few times I have come across text areas on a page where the html editor doesn't show and I have to write the text in HTML- for instance if I click on the edit icon bottom right of the first text section on Employment Opps page.

Iain,

It's certainly not you or your age, we're just behind a bit on some the tweaks that enable the editing you are trying to do.

If you have "show tools" checked and you mouseover an area and an 'edit' icon doesn't show up, it means we haven't enabled the on-page editing for that component.

When this happens, let us know and we'll go enable that one right away for you.

I took care of the employment component, so you can now work with the content on that page.

We'll look into the the Chrome toobar issues. When it happens again, let us know which page you were on and we'll see if we can replicate the problem here.
