GMON3 measure measurement interval

zhangyp Jul 21, 2011 02:10 AM

Hello everyone:
I want to ask a problem about CSI's new product-GMON3. As the manual describe, the GMON3 measure the snow-water equivalency (SWE) every 24hours or every 6 hours. I want to know whether the unit can be configed to measure SWE every one hour?

I want to use CR1000 measure the GMON3 every hour, i wish every sample is new data ,not last result.

The answer is no, not automatically. The reason I believe is thst the scientists behind the sensor consider that in normal conditions you have to count pulses for at least 6 hours to get a reasonably accurate, noise free result.

There are ways of getting count data out of the sensor for shorter periods, e.g. 1 hour, but you would then need to do your own analysis to get to SWE. I am not aware of any logger programs written to do this.

For more advanced support on this sensor, you are best to contact the support email address, to be found on www.campbellsci.ca Note though that as this is outside the normal mode of operation of this sensor they may wish to charge for such advanced support.

One thing to note, is that the sensor works by counting radiation particles received over a given period, so the readings is always an average of past measurements, i.e. over the measurement period.
