Hey
Is there any difference in wiring and programming a CR1000 with a VW200 (for embedded vibrating wire strain gauges) with either the AM16/32 and the AM16/32B?..
No excitation seems to be taking place.. The issue is not with the AVW200, as we connected a strain gauge directly to this and got readings..
There is no difference in the wiring. However the AM16/32B has a feature that the AM16/32 does not have. That feature is the ability to directly switch to a specific bank n on the multiplexer without having to clock through banks 1 to n-1 to get to bank n. This is accomplished by the AVW2XX sending a coded clock signal that the MSP430 microcontroller in the AM16/32B knows how to respond to. The old AM16/32 has no microcontroller and therefore does not have the intelligence to respond to the special clock signal.
Make sure the AVW2xx device setting for the multiplexer type is set for AM16/32 and not AM16/32B. Otherwise the AM16/32 will not be clocked.
You can use the "Device Configuration" software utility to connect to the AVW2XX and view/change this setting. You will find two of the multiplexer options are AM16/32 and AM16/32B. The setting of AM16/32 will work for both the AM16/32 and AM16/32B multiplexers. The AM16/32B setting will only work for the AM16/32B multiplexer
That fixed that issue.
Thanks!..
