LoggerNet SDK's Function

I want to develop my own software interface with LoggerNet SDK and VB,I want to connect my software to datalogger but not using the LoggerNet4.0,can I realize it?Then how can I make a "setup button to setup the connection"?I mean which part of the SDK I can use,like the "CsiServerDirect" etc.
