Hi folks
I've hooked up a system with a solar panel, lead acid battery, solar power controler and a gsm modem. And a couple of diffrent sensors.
It should be running all the year (location: Denmark) and during wintertime the sun is only shining for a few hous a day. So I'm worried about lack of power. (Maybee the lead acid battery will bee run completely empty coused by the bad efficiency during negative degress)
I would like to know:
1. How much power is produced by the solar panel
2. How much power is used by the logger and periphirals
3. How much power is stored in the battery
I made some current measurements using a 0.005 ohm resistor and a LMP8270 (High Common Mode, Gain of 20, Precision Voltage Difference Amplifier) which outputs the voltage over the resistor. These 3 woltage is measured with 3 SE inputs. And using P=U*I I know the power usage in this moment, but not when I do other things in the program.
Therefor my idea was to measure very fast (10usec)
and calculate how much power is used during a period of time. And then measure my sensors every 10 minuts.
But is this the right way to do it ?
Alternativ do someone have another solution ?
Is it realistic to measure power cunsumption with the same hardware as I'm measuring the power usage of ?
Will the highspeed measuremnents just eat my battery storede power?
