I have been using a 21x for measuring electrical usage from a smart meter. The smart meter pulses an IR signal for every watt used. I have been using a TAOS TSL267-LF Photodiode Light to Voltage Precision NIR for measuring the signal. The photodiode outputs 0-5 vdc.
I am using the high frequency pulse count command to count pulses and this has worked good but I have had to shield the meter from all light to keep the background voltage below the 1.5 volts the pulse count command requires.
Is there a way to limit the signal so that it will only output voltages above a set voltage so that the Campbell will recognize the pulses? It looks like a comparator circuit might work but I have not found a detailed schematic.
Thanks in advance.
