I'm planning to install a datalogger and some sensors next to a river gauge that already transmits to a satellite. Does anyone know if I could add a TX312 transmitter to the existing antenna? Is there a bifurcated antenna cable, that would allow two transmitters to attach to the same antenna? The transmission windows and channels would be different, but its the same antenna that goes with the TX312 (the 11dBi RHCP antenna)
I don't know if this is an abusrd suggestion, or if it happens all the time - but any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!
Wilbarger,
You would not want two transmitters to share a single connection to the same antenna. Though they might not transmit at the same time, the wattage from one transmitter would feed into the second transmitter and potentially damage it. Additionally, I think the combination would adversely affect your SWR.
I believe you would want an antenna switch. There are coil relay controlled switches available on the market.
Thanks Sam, I'll look into antenna switches.
