Hi all,
I would like to connect a 5 V cell to my CR1000 which measures solar radiation, the cell's own temperature and ambient temperature.
But I don't know how to connect to my CR 1000...
I have 5 cables from my cell :
- +12V
- Ambient temp
- Cell Tempertaure
- Solar radiation
- GND
To measure this parameters, it's an analogue output such as :
0...5V Solar radiation 0...250 W/m²
0...5V Cell Temp. -20...+130°C
0...5V Ambient Temp. -20...+130°C
with a power supply 12 VDC 7mA.
I think I have to use the option "Differential Voltage" but I don't know use it with this cable. Could you help me please? Thank you.
Regards,

IF there is only one ground conection in this sensor and the wires are short (< a few tens of metres) I would measure the signals single ended as you will gain little from a differential measurement. Connect the GND to a signal ground on the logger and measure the three outputs of the sensor on succesive single ended channels.
Thank you, you understood my problem and my wires are short. So, I have to use a differential measurement.
But I'm not sure about the good option to use. is it a differential voltage in Short cut ? Because now, Short cut told me to connect like this and I think it's not good...:
Differential voltage 1:
Shield - Ground
High - 4H
Low - 4L
Differential voltage 2:
Shield - Ground
High - 5H
Low - 5L
Differential voltage 3:
Shield - Ground
High - 6H
Low - 6L
I have 3 wires + GND. I don't know how to connect my wires?
Moreover, I don't understand "the three outputs of the sensor on succesive single ended channels." What is it ?
Thank you.
I said if the wires are short you can measure the signals single ended.
Connect the ground and the shields to the ground terminals next to three sequential single ended channels, e.g.
SE
8 Solar Radiation
9 Cell Temp
10 Ambient Temp
Ground GND
12V to +12V supply
Measure this as 3 single ended voltages on the 5V range.
Maxime,
In ShortCut choose Single-Ended Voltage from the Generic Measurements category. Add your measurements one at a time so you can give them meaningful variable names. Then the wiring diagram will show you how to connect the wires.

Ok, perfect. I found this option in Short Cut and and I understand.
Thank you aps & Janet.
