NL120

sufah Jan 11, 2012 08:52 AM

hey,

I would like to know if the NL120 interface unit can be used to output analog voltages.
i am using the ModBUS instruction to send data from the CR1000 to loggernet.
(the project i am working on [b]requires 5 analog voltages,0-5V [b] representing temp, humidity, windspeed, wind dir and pressure to be fed into an RTU)
can i achieve this using just the NL 120? as per my understanding the NL120 can not perform this task and the SDM-AO4A units will be needed to do this.

please advise.

The NL120 is a communications peripheral only. It does not provide additional analog channels for a datalogger.

Thank you Dana.
So the SDM-AO4A units are a must for having an analog voltage output or is there an alternate way?

For the CR1000, to get continuous analogue outputs you either need the SDM-AO4 (4-channels, non-isolated, voltage only) or the SDM-CVO4 (4-channels, isolated, voltage or current). You can use multiple of those devices to get more outputs.

Thank You Andrew. that clears things up.
