Can the CS100 barometer be turned on all the time?

Hi,
We are running an eddy covariance system which includes a CS100 Barometric Pressure Sensor. The CR3000 program runs in pipeline mode and has a slow and a fast sequence.

The CS100 needs to be connected to a control port which turns the power on and off. In the manual of the CS100 it shows an example program whereby a CS100 measurement is made every scan outside the “if” statement (as required for a program in pipeline mode), but the control port is only set to high once every hour. Only measurements made when the control port is high are ‘valid’ (not nonsense).

I was just wondering whether there would be any problems with having the control port for the CS100 set to high all the time so that valid measurements can be made every scan and a proper average can be calculated? Are there drawbacks to leaving the CS100 on all the time that I am unaware of?

Thanks for your help!

Simple answer is yes, you can run it all the time. The downside is increased power use.
